9 Famous Pieces Of Movie Trivia Everybody Believes (That Are Totally Wrong)

3. Denzel Washington Made His Debut In Death Wish

According to IMDb, Denzel Washington’s debut movie is the long-forgotten comedy Carbon Copy from 1981, but if the internet is to be believed his first movie was actually Death Wish; in this rare case, the internet has it wrong.

Apparently Denzel played the uncredited role of an alley thug, who alongside some of his buddies foolishly try (and fail) to rob Charles Bronson. While the actor in question does bear a passing resemblance to Washington, closer inspection reveals it’s definitely not him.

Washington himself put this rumour to sleep during an interview for 2 Guns, stating that he wasn't even an actor when the film was shot in 1974. The movie did mark the debut of young Jeff Goldblum though, playing the well-developed character of Freak #1. He’s one of the nasty gents who assault Bronson’s family and cause his murderous rampage.

Handsome. Charismatic. Intelligent. Noble. Witty. I'm none of these things, but I'm a half decent writer, I guess.
