20. Bruce Banner

Before Thor: Ragnarok was released, Mark Ruffalo revealed that there was a three movie arc for Bruce Banner and the Hulk and clearly, that will be focused on the battle for control between the two identities. After Hulk was in the ascendancy in Ragnarok, Banner is back in charge and it seems Hulk isn't happy about being used only when Banner decides. When he's beaten badly by Thanos, that's clearly the last straw and he refuses to come out for the rest of the movie.

That means we get more of Banner as comic relief and the interesting new dynamic of him as a warrior in the Hulkbuster suit (giving him a rare heroic moment). It's a bit of a shame that there's a thinly veiled erectile dysfunction allegory at play, but it will raise some smiles.

19. Falcon

Falcon doesn't really get much in the way of character development in Infinity War, but his big selling point is the change he brings to the battle of Wakanda.

Thanks to him being one of two flying characters, he's effectively a means for the film-makers to use some impressive aerial shots, which adds a whole other dimension to those sequences. He also looks pretty badass, which is a nice change from watching him get his ass handed to him by Ant-Man not so long ago.
