Batman & Harley Quinn Review: 3 Ups & 8 Downs

6. Casual Sexism Everywhere

Batman And Harley Quinn
Warner Bros.

Surprise, surprise, an animated comic book film is casually sexist. After last summer's The Killing Joke served up an atrociously sexist depiction of Barbara Gordon, many fans hoped that Warner Bros. might take a hard look at what they're churning out and maybe realise that they need to revise their policy on female characters.

No such luck. It's not long before Harley Quinn is stripping off and pointing her peachy behind at the camera, making most adult viewers likely wonder why they're even watching it at all.

That's just the start of it, really, and the movie as a whole doesn't have a particularly terrific attitude towards women. In 2017, are we as a society really not past this garbage pandering to horny 12-year-olds?
