Batman vs. Superman: 8 Actors Who Could Play The Riddler

8. Garret Dillahunt

Having a relative unknown take on such an iconic role would make the character rather than the actor stand out, and a role like The Riddler demands to stand out. With that in mind, Garret Dillahunt is the first somewhat obscure actor on this list. Rarely given a chance to show just how good he is because the spotlight keeps getting fixated on the more famous; the more he acts, the more it feels like Dillahunt's big break must be around the corner. Moving away from Carrey's over-the-top farcical Riddler, Dillahunt would bring a slick and unnervingly psychotic demeanour to the man who is obsessed with outsmarting Batman. If you've seen No Country For Old Men you might remember Dillahunt as Tommy Lee Jones' bumbling, soft-hearted deputy. But take that character and compare it to his unhinged gang leader in Last House On The Left and you'll have someone who can turn from compassionate to callous in a blink of an eye. And if his TV work on Raising Hope tells you anything, it's that he's got a knack for adding great flavour to his line delivery. With the kind of sinister ambiguity Dillahunt brings to his villainous roles, he'd have to stretch his range the most from anyone on this list but the dedication he shows towards his work proves that he'd be up for the challenge.
