Fan-Casting 7 Big Batman Villains For Ben Affleck's Solo Movies

5. Viggo Mortensen As Ra's Al Ghul

Admittedly, Viggo Mortensen doesn't make many blockbusters (the last film he starred in that grossed over $100 million domestically was Return Of The King in 2003), and he even turned down a role in The Hobbit because, well... Aragorn isn't in the books.

If nothing else, that decision shows just how much artistic integrity this man has, so if he is to appear in a superhero movie, the role would have to be juicy, key to the story and a good fit for the actor.

And we believe Ra's al Ghul would fit that bill, should he pop up in a Batfleck movie somewhere down the line. He's Bruce's mentor and the two characters usually share a mutual respect for one another, so Mortensen would be delving into Batman's past, and there's certainly a lot of meat on that bone.

We could see Batman's formative years, and his training. Perhaps Talia was involved. Or maybe Ra's initially trained Bruce to kill, and that's why he's ok with it in Batman v Superman? By giving the character a big part to play in Batman's history, the filmmakers can make the role as big as they want, and as important as it needs to be for Mortensen to want to take it on.

Elsewhere, the actor's rugged look as Aragorn would be a great fit for Ra's, who's a powerful, wise warrior, and the character needs that calm, collected nature that Mortensen brings to all his roles, from The King Of Gondor to a mild-mannered diner owner in A History Of Violence.
