Marion Cotillard Officially In Talks For THE DARK KNIGHT RISES

Updated:The Hollywood Reporter has today confirmed that Marion Cotillard is "in discussions" for The Dark Knight Rises, the only potential scupper to her appearing in the film is seemingly scheduling. She's pregnant but due in May, and Nolan wants her to turn up for filming in London this June before moving to L.A. and Pittsburgh and wrapping mid-November in New York. It's said that Nolan is closing in on casting 'the romantic lead' of the film but won't confirm that role is Talia, though they do say Kate Winslet, Rachel Weisz and Naomi Watts have all screen tested alongside Christin Bale in recent weeks. From the outside looking in though, clearly it's Cotillard who Nolan wants. Hopefully a deal can be agreed because she's done nothing but impress since moving over to Hollywood, especially most recently in Nolan's Inception. ORIGINAL ARTICLE FOLLOWS.... French newspaper/magazine Le Figaro (via BOF) claim that Marion Cotillard has been cast in The Dark Knight Rises, the third Inception alumni to win a major role in Christopher Nolan's next film. She is said to have nabbed the second female lead, presumably that of Talia Ah Ghul, opposite Anne Hathaway's Selina Kyle. Cotillard will reportedly join the production when filming moves to L.A. this summer and I know, we already ruled out an appearance from the French actress because she is heavily pregnant but apparently her child is due in May, so she could conceivably be ready to work in June or July, or even later, as The Dark Knight Rises will be filming all the way up till November. Personally speaking, I've had Cotillard pegged for Batman 3 from the very first day Nolan cast her in Inception and upon seeing that movie, where I felt she gave the best performance of the cast, my desire to see her in the new Batman only increased. I think she would make a great Talia, who THR claimed earlier this year was a major part of the new movie. Hopefully Deadline will follow up with a confirmation very soon but given Nolan's desire to bring back much of his Inception cast for this (already Tom Hardy, Joseph Gordon-Levitt), this is both a very likely story but also a very easy one to make up as rumour.
