Joseph Gordon-Levitt: 5 Awesome Roles And 5 That Sucked

5 Awesome Performances...

5. Arthur - Inception

Although Arthur is very much the straight man of Inception, Levitt manages to take what could have been a fairly dull character and make him cool. He is Cobb€™s calm right hand man, who always has the right answer and a dry one-liner ready. With Inception basically being a twist on old-fashioned heist movies Levitt gives off a laidback Sixties-era charm in the role; he€™s always wearing a nice suit and he never gets flustered when things get hectic. He's even charming when he tricks Ariadne (Ellen Page) into giving him a kiss, which should come across as a total dick move. Gordon-Levitt manages to make an actors worst nightmare - delivering pages and pages of exposition - into compelling cinema, and his bickering double act with Tom Hardy provides the film with most of its laughs. Arthur may not be his flashiest performance, but it showed he could take a supporting role and make some special out of it.

Handsome. Charismatic. Intelligent. Noble. Witty. I'm none of these things, but I'm a half decent writer, I guess.
