3. Captain Ron - Captain Ron
Captain Ron is one of those experiments that happens from time to time; a normally funny actor will be cast in a straight leading role while the straight actor will be cast in the comic part. The trouble is these experiments always end in disaster, and while Captain Ron is hardly the worst offender its maybe the most annoying film on Russells filmography. His Captain Ron is meant to be a wacky, lovable rascal but he comes across as a selfish dick who puts an innocent family in danger. The jokes arent funny, the slapstick is tiresome and it commits the biggest crime any film could commit; it makes you hate watching Kurt Russell. The saddest part is that Captain Ron wears an eyepatch throughout, which only reminds the viewer they could be watching Escape From New York instead; or failing that, even Escape From L.A. would do.
