17. Meryl Silverburgh - Emily Blunt

There's a certain youthful carelessness to Meryl that plays into her character in the original Metal Gear Solid ("I'm no rookie!"), but it's an aspect that gets refined over time, with MGS 4's more mature, commanding version representing one of the best female characters in the series.

It's this latter depiction that Emily Blunt would be perfect for, though she could also play the MGS 1 incarnation, with scenes like taking out the guard to steal his uniform or the final jeep getaway giving her time to shine.

As mentioned in the introduction, Jordan Vogt-Roberts has mentioned that the Metal Gear movie will pull from the entire canon to make a standalone, original story. This - in theory - means we could get the best of both worlds: An initially risk-taking Meryl growing across the film into the version we see in MGS 4.
