Star Wars: 10 Best Female Characters (Of The Canon Series)

4. Hera Syndulla

Star Wars Female
Disney XD

Quite possibly the best female character to originate from Star Wars rebels is the Twi'lek leader of Phoenix Squadron, Hera Syndulla. If Mon Mothma is the most important political leader of the early rebellion, then Hera is the most important leader on the military side of things.

She's good in every season, but in season three in particular is when she truly shines her brightest, proving to be arguably the single best rebel commander of her day. She's blunt and more than capable of making the tough decisions when she has to, in addition to being witty and quick on her feet as an incredibly skilled pilot. Frankly, she's one of the few who can stare down a massive Imperial siege and simply say "bring it on."

Despite all of her combat prowess and her painful past, Hera never once loses touch of her gentle, caring nature. No matter what the Empire or anyone else threw at her, Hera's sheer resolve and love for her surrogate family persevered.

As a bonus, Hera is also one of the only characters originating from TV to be directly referenced in one of the main films, as you can hear her being paged over the intercom at the Yavin IV rebel base in Rogue One.
