Star Wars: 4 Reasons Why Rumoured Boba Fett Retcon Is A Bad Idea

3. It's An Incredibly Clumsy Idea

I'm going to say one thing in favour of this idea: It could be worse. There are a lot of really bad ways you can retcon a character's backstory and you have to give this one its due for the fact that it would leave the established events of the Prequels more or less intact. Now that I've dirtied myself by complimenting this plan for the only positive aspect of it, let's get back to bashing it. Any significant retcon of Boba Fett would be stupid but this one would really be doing the character a disservice. It sounds like a bad fanfic a teenager would write. A completely new character killing a fan favourite and then becoming that character is not an idea that should ever be committed to film. Pick any franchise and character you want and it sounds like a terrible plan. Hell, even soap operas wouldn't touch an idea like Plus we had an imposter Boba Fett story years ago in the comic Boba Fett: Twin Engines Of Destruction with a bounty hunter named Jodo Kast assuming Fett's identity and using his notoriety to get higher bounties. Except that that storyline ended with Boba killing Kast because replacing Boba Fett with an imposter would have been, is, and always will be a really stupid idea.
