Star Wars: The Force Awakens - 10 Things Everybody Missed In The Final Trailer

3. Starkiller Base

The biggest thing we learned from the poster-trailer-ticket triple whammy didn't actually come from the new footage, but the mightily impressive one-sheet - the film will feature what appears to be a Death Star-esque weapon (with a design oddly similar to concept art for the original small moon). The popular opinion is that this is the quite literally-named Starkiller Base, actually built into the planet that serves as the First Order's home. We can't go much further than that as the trailer didn't spend much time on the weapon at all, but there were a couple of glimpses of what it could be. During the final montage we see a fleet of X-Wings (seemingly led by Poe Dameron and BB-8) engaging a bunch of TIE Fighters over the film's snow-covered planet, but if you turn away from the awesome space action and look at the surface itself you can make out a massive trench running along the ground, with several other man-made channels leading into it. This is probably at least part of the superweapon, seemingly confirming that in-built thinking. What threat Starkiller Base really poses isn't clear at this point (all we can garner from Poe's torture it's pretty destructive), although it wouldn't be too surprising for an assault on the Imperial base forming a key part of the third act - Lucas may be gone, but it's certainly looking like Star Wars will still rhyme.
