X-Men: Apocalypse - 10 Wild Rumours You Need To Know
10. Wolverine Will Become A Horseman In The Movie
Somewhere, deep in the dungeons of Marvel's X-Men editorial offices, written on a stone tablet and inked in blood is the epitaph "Any Character Can Recover From Being A Horseman". Over the years a number of A-list to Q-list Marvel characters have been overtaken by Apocalypse to be one of his elite Horsemen: War, Famine, Pestilence, and Death. Famously, and originally, there was Angel who became Archangel but over time we've seen Gambit, Polaris, Sunfire, Psylocke, and even the Hulk overtaken to serve Apocalypse in one of those roles. At one time, Cyclops was possessed by En Sabah Nur himself in yet another attempt to make Cyclops interesting. In that same storyline from 2000 (The Twelve), Wolverine was revealed as Death. While, on the whole, there are some mixed feelings about The Twelve Saga, it does provide a way to include Wolverine in X-Men: Apocalypse. Following Days Of Future Past, Wolverine is cast away from Professor X and the crew and you can only assume they don't bother to look for him because they don't want to further disrupt the flow of time after Magneto dropped a stadium on the Nixon White House. While this may be the only way to work Wolverine into the movie without breaking the movie continuity they just fixed, it seems somewhat problematic. It is difficult to assert which parts of the original X-Men Trilogy are still canon as Days Of Future Past wasn't forthcoming with continuity changes other than those affecting Cyclops and Jean Grey. Regardless, seeing Wolverine as the Horseman Death could be pretty amazing.
