X-Men: Days Of Future Past - 11 Awesome Moments That Have Been Wiped Out

11. The Future Sentinel Battles - Days Of Future Past

Singer's dystopian future timeline is as good a place to start as any for this article, since it's very clear from the epilogue that the grim, murderous future that opens the film is no more, and all of the mutants who have been killed along the way to Sentinel domination have been given a reprieve, which is undoubtedly a good thing. Unfortunately, it also means that the timeline has wiped out the best bits of that alternate future - the battle sequences between Xavier's band of survivors and the evolved Sentinels who typically emerge victorious, only for Kitty Pryde to save the day by teleporting Bishop's mind back into the past. Those battles actually gave the younger mutants something to do while Xavier and Magneto oversaw Wolverine's own transition to the past, and the sight of Blink in particular using her portal powers to dodge Sentinel attacks and turn their attacks against themselves was a brilliantly choreographed moment that now doesn't strictly exist. Of course these battles still exist in the alternate branches of the timelines, but the defeat of Trask and his subsequent imprisonment fundamentally suggests that we won't get to see this version of the Sentinels reappearing, and no opportunity to see their adaptability in full force against spirited, but ultimately inferior opponents.
