The dark horse on this list, Culdcept is far more than just a misspelled variant of the name of that fungal zombifying disease from The Last Of Us. Far from it, it's a board game that combines elements of Monopoly and Magic: The Gathering, and can be played with up to four people. You take it in turns to roll die and move around the board, capturing territorie, then summoning fantasy creatures to defend them. When people wander into your territory, their cards do battle with yours for control of the area. Battles are carried out in a turn-based card game fashion - which will be familiar to anyone who's played Hearthstone or Magic: The Gathering. Culdcept isn't the kind of multiplayer game you play for an hour, and is very much aimed at people who are already fans of card games. If you're organising a PS2 retro games evening at yours, then have Culdcept as your graveyard game - reserving a good several hours for it at the end of your night to it. Better still, have an entire evening dedicated just to Culdcept; it takes a little while to get to grips with the deeply tactical nature of the game, but it's extremely rewarding once you do.
