10 Horror Video Games That Desperately Need Sequels

It's the right month for a zombie-style resurrection.

With The Evil Within proving people never get tired of a good shock-fest as long as it's crafted with just the right amount of heart, it's prompted us to think of which other horror franchises could make a comeback on newer hardware. There's something so weirdly alluring about the genre overall too, as depending on which side of the 'how much can you stomach?' fence you sit on, the drastic difference between experiencing this sort of thing by yourself or with a group can make for some of the most enjoyably pulse-racing experiences out there - or the reason you're still awake at 3am. Over the years the biggest innovation to the genre that sent out ripples big enough for the rest of us to take notice was the switch to first-person, heralded in by one Slender Man and the Amnesia series. Both of which when coupled with the rise of Youtube celebrities scaring themselves silly for our entertainment has seen increased interest in that spin on the genre, amongst more traditional fare like the aforementioned Evil Within reminding us where Resident Evil 4 left off. In film this genre is one of the most overdone out there in terms of sequels, with both Saw and Paranormal Activity seeing annualised releases until there were no more seats to fill throughout the last decade. In games though the two biggest titans of video game horror (Resident Evil and Silent Hill) are past double-digits in terms of how many have been released, meaning that just through cultural reception some of the more interesting titles can get missed out or forgotten altogether.
