8 Best PS4 Multiplayer Games You Can Play Offline

3. LittleBigPlanet 3

The ultimate game to just kick back and have a nice time with, LBP 3 is sweetness personified. Even if you're playing an inscrutable user-created level that's virtually impossible to complete, it's still hard to get frustrated at Sackboy and his knitted friends.

While there is a so-so single-player campaign you can get through with some buddies (and a host of unique new characters with their own abilities), the real fun lies in exploring the universe of creations made by the LBP community. The level creator allows for multiple genres of game, so the variety on offer is huge, though the real bread-and-butter is in the 2D platforming. You can specifically search for multiplayer-focused games, then sort those by rating to get straight to the best ones out there and jump on in.

The physics-based gameplay makes for plenty of weird and unpredictable moments, and even if you're playing a co-op level, the option to give your fellow player a smack round the chops (in the game, not in real life) to send them hurtling into a spike pit is most welcome. You can spend hours exploring LBP's vast world of creations, typing in pretty much anything you can think of - whether it's another game, a movie, or a Lovecraft novel - and probably finding a level someone created for it.
