If you watch the WWII reveal trailer at half-speed, or care to watch any of the many, many breakdowns, reaction trailers and otherwise analysis going on around the reveal of Call of Duty: WWII, you'll know that it's bloody.

A minor but welcome feature of critical darling World at War was the ability for some of the more powerful weapons such as shotguns and sniper rifles to dismember bodies fired upon both in single player and multiplayer.

Most of the buzz words around this new COD are "gritty", "boots-on-the-ground" and "visceral". This likely indicates that this new game will not only maintain the 18/M rating but also go beyond previous games due to the flamethrowers and tank warfare seen in the reveal trailer.

Some of the best WWII films - Saving Private Ryan and The Thin Red Line - both present the viewer with sometimes uncomfortable levels of gore to hit home the full horror and violence of war. Perhaps Call of Duty: WWII can do the same.
