Mass Effect 3: 5 Other Broken Endings We'd Fix

3. Beyond Good and Evil

This was a brilliant game with a brilliant ending. You defeat the final boss, the story wraps up and all the loose ends are dealt with leaving you with a fulfilling conclusion. The credits roll, leaving you with a sense that this self contained experience is over and done with and everything is over. But wait, what's this I see at the end of the credits, it's another cutscene. It was short, but left us on such an unbelievable cliffhanger ending that fans were desperate for a sequel. Nine years and one teaser trailer later, and that sequel is still seemingly no closer. If Ubisoft had left out that teaser the game wouldn't have been any worse, but adding it in completely undid the wonderfully self contained ending you had created.

4. Alan Wake

So after a gruelling journey past untold terrors and plot twists to finally rescue your wife, things start to get a little weird and nonsensical. You defeat a weird tornado of evil, dive into a lake where a mysterious author in a diving suit tells you about your never before mentioned evil twin Mr. Scratch who will be living your life while you stay trapped forever in the cabin in an attempt to free your wife from the lake. For a game with a great story, the ending felt hugely rushed, lacking in answers, and incomplete unless you play through the DLC, which provides some of but not all of the answers. Some extra explanation, closure and sense would have gone a long way.
