Red Dead Redemption 2: 10 Characters We Need To See
4. Leigh Johnson
Marshal Leigh Johnson is a man who just wishes for a quiet existence for himself and the town of Armadillo, but John Marston’s presence pretty much assures that won’t be the case. Nonetheless, being a man of justice and honour, the pair develop a mutual respect and like for one another.
Johnson’s old school attitude and no nonsense characteristics don’t develop overnight, so his depiction should show a younger, more inexperienced lawman in the same vein, perhaps not taken seriously by his superiors due to his strict ethics and unwillingness to accept the type of situational hypocrisy that Edgar Ross adopts.
Characters intersecting at different points in a universe’s timeline is always a neat hat tip, and the idea of Johnson and Ross being part of the same government branch, rising through the ranks as friends but gradually drifting apart because of Ross’ underhanded tactics and Johnson’s steady moral compass is narrative just waiting to unfold.
Johnson is prominent during the early stages of John’s adventure, but is scarcely seen or mentioned after he travels to Mexico. Much like Javier Escuella, his early life requires some etching out.
