Red Dead Redemption 2: 10 Characters We Need To See
3. Edgar Ross
One of the easiest men to hate in all of Rockstar’s games, Edgar Ross is head of what would become the Federal Bureau of Investigation during the events of Red Dead Redemption. He holds John’s wife and son in custody, blackmails him, and claims the fame and credit of his hard fought capture of his former friends.
Ross represents numerous themes in the game. Federalism, hypocrisy, modernism, Ross is a personification of them all. He is the central figure for all of John’s hate for the government and seems to sadistically enjoy strong arming him into doing the Bureau’s dirty work.
Seeing Ross appear in the sequel could show him in his up and coming government days, perhaps showing him harbouring hate for Marston or interacting with Leigh Johnson. He could even be shown as a man who is broken by the cynicism of the system, being a younger soul who is trying to honestly make the world a better place through righteousness and truth, but slowly realises these methods don’t work in the new and changing world.
Edgar Ross’ past is an intriguing concept that fans of the series would be curious to see more of.
