The Witcher 4 Wishlist: 10 Things Fans Demand

Those who consider Ciri’s story concluded along with Geralt’s believe in letting the player pick or create their own witcher. This could see Witcher 4 take a step back from character-focused drama and toward traditional RPG freedom of choice.

Should you want to pick from an array of existing characters, Witcher 3 has quite a list: Geralt’s witcher brethren Lambert and Eskel, Letho, Berengar, even that retired Cat school witcher who appears in one of the sidequests…

One problem with this is that player choices in the previous games can leave some of them, ahem, permanently unavailable – in fact, Eskel is the only named witcher who can’t end up dead even if you screw everything else up. But there’s continuity for you, and all the more reason to replay the entire series to unlock the desired character.

This way, the game can have entirely different opening stages or even entire sections, akin to what the first Dragon Age had for different race and class combinations, or the way the second Witcher game had an entirely swappable chapter in the middle.

Alternatively, the player could be allowed to build their own witcher from the ground up. All the building blocks are already there with various schools, fighting styles and magic Signs. Quite a few fans are longing for the opportunity to project themselves into the Witcher world instead of taking the reins of an existing character.
