WWE 2K20: 10 Most Wanted New Features
9. Proper Freedom With Backstage Areas
Hold on, hold on. We said that we wouldn't be whinging about how things were better in ye olden times, so why is this here? Well, play 2K19's 'Backstage Brawls' for a few moments, then pop in one of the original SmackDown titles and come back. The difference is akin to ex-Hardcore Champs Steve Blackman and Mick Foley.
One is functional without being fun, and the other takes things to a whole new level.
There was proper freedom in games like Shut Your Mouth and Here Comes The Pain. They, progressively building on the foundations forged by WCW Mayhem and THQ's first few SmackDown efforts, allowed players to go wild in their own weapon-heavy sandbox of hardcore heaven. The same atmosphere, sadly, wasn't there in 2K19.
We want to go everywhere, use everything and experiment with all the toys 2K could and should be providing in backstage scenes. There needs to be more weapons, better destructive environments and bloody helicopters we can hit elbow drops from.
