Richard "Cheech" Marin & Tommy Chong were the premiere drug-inspired comedy duo of the 1970s and '80s. The pair had a stand-up routine, Grammy Award-winning albums, and 10 films they worked on together with numerous television and stand-in projects.

The pair met in Vancouver when Cheech had moved there to avoid the draft at the height of the Vietnam War. Chong was the owner of the city's first topless bar where the two met. They quickly formed a friendship and an act they took on the road to critical acclaim.

In 1987, Marin starred in the film Born in East L.A. based on a song the two released two years earlier. Shortly after the film released, Marin separated himself from the pairing and launched a solo career. They remained apart for years in an apparent feud, but finally reunited in 2008, 21 years after they ended their first pairing.

Since reuniting, they have performed on the road together like they did in their early days. They have also recorded songs together and made numerous appearances on television series including an episode of The Simpsons in 2011.
