Arsene Wenger is somewhat notoriously renowned for not being a big spender in any transfer window, however with his job possibly on the line as The Gunners lie four points behind the Champions League places, does the Frenchman need to dig deep into The Emirates coffers to bring in more talents to add to his sub-standard squad?
There are some people who believe Arsene will still guide the club to a top four finish irrespective of signings but I for one do not believe this is the case and without Champions League football next season, Wenger will almost certainly be shown the door by the owners at Arsenal who would be set to lose an almighty £25m plus in revenue.
League glory is well out of the question, and pending FA Cup success this year another trophy barren season is imminent unless changes are made. Here are 5 players I suggest Wenger should seriously consider if he is to remain at the helm beyond the end of the season with Champions League Football intact.
5. Mohamed Diame
The West Ham midfielder was snapped up by Sam Allardyce after leaving Wigan on a free transfer at the end of last season. With a reported £3.5m release clause built into his contract, he would add much needed steel to an Arsenal midfield currently lacking in strength. Within Arsene’s price range, surely this man should be the first one through the door at The Emirates with Abou Diaby proving to be as reliable as a policitican’s manifesto.
Arsenal have long been lacking a midfield bite ever since Vieira left and somewhat after that Gilberto. In fact the closest the club came to somebody reliable was Mathieu Flamini in his partnership with Cesc Fabregas in the middle of the park.
Alex Song was never quite the anchorman others before him were but without him, Wenger seriously needs to bring somebody new in.

what a rubbish story! Rubbish / misleading headline, incorrect statements, silly assumptions. Articles like this shouldnt get the time of day from anyone.

I think you’re being a tad harsh. I agree the assumptions are rather large and unrealistic but if you read the final paragraph he acknowledges Arsenal probably won’t sign any of these. Nor is he saying Wenger is close to bidding for them. He is just making an article on who he believes Arsenal need to improve the team and get in the Champions League.
I’d welcome all 5 to the Emirates but Shaw looks committed and if anywhere would surely move to Chelsea. Newcastle aren’t going to want to sell Ben Arfa, Diame has said he wants to stay at West Ham for now and there is no evidence Villa has asked to leave Barca. Apart from that, it’s a pretty good effort.
Thank you Goon for a walk, It was my first article for whatculture after being spotted on another football based site. I’m glad you read the article and took the time to acknowledge the fact I don’t believe Le Prof will sign anybody on this list. Thanks for the feedback!
Arsenal have a tough job to qualify for the cl spot.If Wenger doesn’t bring in anyone and the gunners make it,well and good. But the signs aint that good.Beating WHU 5-1 is one thing. Liverpool will be another proposition. If Arsenal lose that shows the gunners need back up.
Otherwise Arsenal could lose further ground and Wenger will have to pay the price.
Frankly the defence has never been properly fixed and it shows in the same type of goals conceded all the time. Wenger throws his hands up in anguish. He is sole responsible for the defence generosity towards the opposition.
