Arsenal Transfers: 6 Failed Deals Wenger Should Revive In Summer

After being criticised for a lack of signings in the summer, Arsenal has again come under the gun for a dismal January transfer window. With their only summer signing Mesut Ozil costing the Gunners £42 million, it is hard for fans not to complain when the only January signing is an unheard of, and already injured, Kim Kallstrom. Arsenal is notorious for building up transfer rumours and never following through, and January was no different. Over the January window the club has been linked with the likes of: Diego Costa, Julian Draxler, Mario Mandzukic, and even Mario Balotelli. Yet none of which have signed Arsenal contracts to date. Currently, Arsenal has one fit striker, Olivier Giroud, who is under immense pressure to carry the teams striking responsibilities alone. In addition, their midfield is in tatters with injuries left right and centre, keeping players out for a few weeks to several months in the case of Theo Walcott. After looking at Arsenal's squad depth, and January striking predicament, it is evident that they need signings in the summer transfer window, for the squads and fans sakes. And yes Arsenal has been top of the league for the best part of the season, but Chelsea has now overtaken them. Having two offensively strong teams in 3rd (Manchester City) and 4th (Liverpool) place doesn't help the Gunner's either. Let's not forget Spurs are not far behind and still in the title race. It is beginning to start all over again for Arsenal. One day they are the competitors for the title, the next they might be fighting for a Champions League spot. What should Wenger do to ensure more stability in his squad next season? Here is a look at six potential deals Arsene Wenger and his depleted Arsenal squad can rekindle when the long awaited summer transfer window reopens again at the end of the current season.
