Chelsea 2-0 Leicester: 5 Big Things We Learnt

Another solid win for Chelsea gives strong hints about the season ahead for both teams.

Following a challenging first half in which Leicester produced a number of positive opportunities, Chelsea's depth of talent shone through as Diego Costa got his second goal in two games and opened his competitive account at Stamford Bridge. A 77th minute Eden Hazard run and shot added gloss to the scoreline, though the away side will have good reason to nevertheless feel positive about the overall performance. With a little more coolness in their finishing, they might have produced a shock result and even looked the better team for much of the first half. Chelsea laboured at times against the newly promoted side but steadily gained traction as the game went on. Chances came and went for Oscar, Fabregas and Ivanovic and it seemed only a matter of time before the breakthrough arrived. Costa's close range finish was another important goal, having scored the equaliser after Burnley took a shock lead last Monday. As Fabregas continued probing from deep, Chelsea's summer signings are looking more inspired with every passing game, even though it was disappointing to see £15.8 million full-back Filipe Luis remain on the bench. Even with the season at such an early stage, the match produced a number of fascinating talking points which could suggest how each team's campaign could pan out. Read on for the five most important things we learnt from Chelsea's 2-0 victory.
