Chelsea 2-0 Leicester: 5 Big Things We Learnt

5. Leicester Are Showing Outstanding Cohesion And Teamwork

Leicester may not have picked up any points from Stamford Bridge, but can take heart from a performance which showed outstanding unity in their passing and movement. Nigel Pearson may have done the right thing by not making too many big signings over the summer, £8 million Leonardo Ulloa aside, adding depth to his squad while avoiding disruption to the successful formula which led to their promotion last season. At times, particularly in the first half, it looked as though the Leicester players were telepathically linked, so quick and precise were some of their passing moves. They created a number of chances against a Chelsea defence which was the stingiest in the top flight last season, with only David Nugent's hesitant finishing and Thibaut Courtois' excellent preventing them from taking the lead. They may have faded in the second half, but as with Burnley last week, should take heart from the fact that they won't be facing teams of Chelsea's calibre every week and replicating this kind of performance should certainly see them pick up plenty of points and fans along the way. Wes Morgan and Liam Moore were excellent in the heart of defence, with young Englishman Moore in particular showing why he is such a highly rated prospect. It's going to be a long and difficult road, but with the fearlessness of youth combining with the experience of a settled side, Leicester could end up surprising a few people.
