Liverpool vs Spurs - 5 Ways Reds Can Beat Tottenham

4. Press Spurs' Central Midfield

As we saw against Inter Milan on Thursday, Scott Parker is well on the way to being back to his best and that means that if Liverpool do not put pressure on him in the middle of the park, he will control the game and create chances for Tottenham. Liverpool need to hassle Parker, not give him any time on the ball and pressure him into making mistakes because if the game is played at his tempo then the Reds are in trouble. The other half of the duo, Moussa Dembele adds flair to the Spurs' midfield that has been missing in recent seasons and offers something different to Scott Parker, Dembele is more attack minded, likes to find pockets of space in front of the back 4 and can finish really well. It might be worth having Lucas looking after Dembele and Steven Gerrard using his energy to limit Parker, Spurs have one of the best Midfields in the league and Liverpool will have to control it if they are to get anything out of this game.
