Man Utd: 5 Reasons Why They Won't Finish In The Top Four

3. David Moyes

Part of United's problem is David Moyes himself. Many eyebrows were raised when the Scot replaced Sir Alex Ferguson over the summer - least of all because of his lack of a trophy-winning track record. In his 11 years at Everton, Moyes did a sterling job in guiding them to consistent fifth and sixth placed berths, but that simply isn't going to cut it at Old Trafford. The ex-Toffees chief hasn't quite discovered the right formula at United and some of his tactical decisions have been odd, such as refusing to bow to public opinion by leaving Shinji Kagawa out of the side for so long and leaving Javier Hernandez wasting away on the bench in favour of the ineffectual Danny Welbeck. There's an old saying - €œRome wasn€™t built in a day, but it burned in one€ and that's currently the case at United under Moyes, who has so far failed to get the best out of a side that won the title by 11 points last season. Moyes has never been involved in a title race, and it is this lack of experience that could see United miss out on a top four finish this season.
