Rating Man Utd’s 6 Summer Signings

6. Marcos Rojo

The jury is still out on Marcos Rojo, Manchester United€™s new centre-back. The Argentinian defender had a slightly underwhelming season at Sporting Lisbon in 2013-14 that was marred by a succession of injuries, though he enjoyed a successful World Cup campaign. Signed from Sporting on August 19 for a reported £16 million, it is hoped Rojo will help fill the void left behind by club captain Nemanja Vidic and Rio Ferdinand, who were both allowed to leave Old Trafford this summer. Rojo made just 25 league appearances last season, and was hindered by a series of set-backs that included knee and arm injuries, limiting his involvement in the Primeira Liga. He did however shine for Argentina, and even showed off a few skills, nutmegging Arjen Robben and executing an outrageous €˜Rabona€™ defensive clearance. But is he good enough to fill Vidic and Ferdinand€™s boots in defence? That remains to be seen.
