Rating Man Utd’s 6 Summer Signings

5. Luke Shaw

Manchester United made another defensive signing this summer and landed Luke Shaw from Southampton, long before any deal for Rojo came to fruition. Signed in a £27 million deal on June 27th, Shaw became the world€™s fourth-most expensive defender when he moved to Old Trafford this summer, and the world€™s costliest teenager. Shaw, unlike Rojo, has proven Premier League experience and shone for the Saints in 2013-14, helping the south coast side keep one of the best defensive records in Europe at one stage in the campaign. Dependable at the back with pace and attacking instincts, big things are expected of the 19-year-old. The left-back was named in England manager Roy Hodgson€™s 23-man World Cup squad after displacing the veteran Ashley Cole and moved to United at the end of the tournament. He has yet to feature for his new club however due to injury but it is hoped when he returns from the sidelines he will be able to fill the boots left behind by Patrice Evra.
