Spurs Transfers: 5 Young Left Backs To Compete With Danny Rose

1. Luke Shaw (Southampton)

The Southampton youngster, believe it or not, is still only 18 years old, but he has already long been Southampton's first choice left back. Shaw has been referred to as "the next Gareth Bale" (having come through the same Southampton youth set up and having a similarly sweet left foot, the comparison is obvious). The left back has played 34 competitive first team games for the Premier League club's surprise 2013/14 outfit and is generally expected to be the long-term replacement for the ageing Ashley Cole in the England national side - even with Leighton Baines already showing signs of doing so. Shaw has been linked with moves to several big London clubs, including Spurs, Arsenal and Chelsea - most recently with Spurs in the last couple of days - as well as Manchester United, though he has emphasised his desire to remain at Southampton for the time being. However, a bid of £15m+ may be enough to tempt the St. Mary's club to sell. Which other young left backs should Spurs be looking at to provide Danny Rose with some genuine competition?
