10 Once Awesome TV Shows That Now Suck

2. Arrow

Arrow Deathstroke Oliver
The CW

Arrow's always been something of a mixed bag, given how it's typically been one to shy away from the comic book character's source material, but it always had promise. Season two in particular was lauded for Manu Bennett's depiction of Slade Wilson, but afterwards, things started to decline.

For some reason or another, the writers decided to turn Ollie into an ersatz version of Batman, complete with his own Arrow-fam, cave, broody attitude, and knock-off sidekicks. Then the show even copied the Ra's al Ghul-Wayne relationship and turned Ollie into the Son of the Demon - a title obviously reserved for the Bat-maestro and one that Queen has never, ever been associated with either on or off the screen.

Granted, Arrow does show signs of quality when it has to, and the resurrection of Bennett's Deathstroke certainly helps in that respect, but it still continues to fumble around with the character to the point that it may as well not even be the Emerald Archer on the small screen.

Like, they have Green Arrow, a character that (if you hadn't already guessed from the Robin Hood motif), is fairly left wing, and they turned him into a bland... thing, that runs for office without a platform on which to stand on.

It's pretty infantile stuff, but hey, it's also popular, so no doubt the CW will persist with this approach until audiences somehow make the switch to Gotham.
