10 Shocking Doctor Who Facts You Won't Believe

Prepare to have your Whovian minds blown.

Doctor Who has now been lighting up our screens for over half a century which means that it's got a whole lot of history to boot. In fact, with over 800 episodes to its coveted name, the longest running sci-fi programme in the world is also the most popular, too. With an ever growing international audience of over 70 million viewers, the show has become one of the most discussed and critically lauded franchises in televisual history and it seems like the world just can't get enough of everybody's favourite Time Lord. A programme that's been running as long as this one, though, is bound to have a few skeletons in its closet. As it turns out, some of our hero's behind the scenes liaisons have been just as turbulent as his on screen ones and there's still plenty of tantalising trivia tidbits about his past that possess the ability to shock you to your very core. Did you know, for example, that the show is actually banned in some countries? And were you aware that the Daleks were based on the Nazis? There's plenty more where that came from over the following pages so read on for 10 Doctor Who facts that will blow your Whovian mind. And if you're not shocked by any of these, and subsequently feel the urge to tell us such in the comments, perhaps it's a different kind of doctor you should be pursuing. Allons-y!
