10 Upcoming New HBO Series To Be Excited About

10. Big Little Lies

David E. Kelley has created shows for each of America's top TV networks (ABC, CBS, Fox, NBC) and now he's taking his considerable resume and talents over to HBO, with an adaptation of the book Big Little Lies.

The novel, written by Liane Moriarty, follows the fortunes of three mothers - Jane, Madeline, and Celeste - of kindergarteners, whose seemingly perfect lives begin to unravel in a subversive comedy about mothers and daughters, ex-husbands, second wives, and the lies we tell ourselves. HBO has the ability to attract the very best actors to a TV role, as evidenced in True Detective last year, and Big Little Lies is another example of that, with Nicole Kidman and Reese Witherspoon both signing on to star.

They're two huge names and bring real star quality to the series, with Witherspoon in particular on a strong run of form lately. It's the sort of dark comedy that you can see the pair really having a lot of fun with, and the cable channel seems like the perfect home for it and them.
