Daredevil TV Show: 10 Things It Can Finally Get Right
3. It Will Be Primarily Set In New York
Hells Kitchen isnt just the place where Gordon Ramsay puts chefs through a strenuous test, it is also an area of New York infamous due to its high level of crime. In the Daredevil comics this is where Matt Murdock dons his suit and fights New Yorks criminal underworld. This is a new dimension for Marvel, and it is something that will be at least intriguing. The movie was set in New York, but the film missed the tone of Hells Kitchen; it is meant to be a hub of street crime, yet the New York criminal underworld of the movie was entirely attached to Kingpin. The vast majority of Marvel heroes operate in New York (Stan Lee supposedly did this as he could get inspiration as he lived there), but so far Marvel movies have been spread around the globe; Iron Man, Thor, The Winter Soldier and The Incredible Hulk all moved around the world, giving a wider appeal and creating incredible plots. This is the first MCU character where the hero will be firmly rooted in one place, meaning you will see his care and concern for the local community, as well as getting to understand the local layout. One of the things that made Smallville, and makes Arrow, so interesting is that the action tends to take place in one place, and many sets are used for multiple scenes. This series gives us the chance to see Marvel emulate DCs incredible run of comic book TV series. By allowing the audience to get attached to certain places within the show, the Netflix series promises to be a much deeper experience than the movie could ever be.
