Daredevil TV Show: 10 Things It Can Finally Get Right

2. There Will Be A Proper Kingpin

Vincent D€™Onofrio will be bringing the bald headed crime boss of Marvel comics to life again. Michael Clarke Duncan€™s portrayal of the Kingpin in the 2003 film was pretty good; he was a formidable foe and he genuinely suited the role. He had a commanding presence and a sense of authority, both attributes which are necessary parts of the man in charge of New York€™s criminal underworld. Unlike the movie, this series won€™t need to rapidly introduce him; there are thirteen episodes, each one being an hour long, meaning that you can be slowly introduced to the businessman Wilson Fisk, and then we can find out what his evil ambitions are and how he has secretly been heading a dangerous crime syndicate. This was the only major problem with 2003€™s Kingpin; the nature of the film meant he was introduced as a villain, and his importance was perhaps overestimated because of this. A character like the Kingpin has to be introduced delicately, allowing him to slowly build his empire and maintain the reputation of a wealthy businessman despite his criminal actions. The format of this show lends itself to this style perfectly.
