Doctor Who: 10 Ways They Could Screw Up The Peter Capaldi Era

Things to avoid so the Doctor can go on to bigger and better things.

Peter Capaldi Doctor Who Fanart Doctor Who is Britain's greatest export and a favorite science-fiction series for fans of the genre, but that doesn't mean the people in charge are immune to making bad decisions. Certain events in the history of The Doctor have left viewers scratching their heads asking "Why did they just do that?" Sometimes it's retconning something important in The Doctor's history, sometimes it's ignoring something completely and sometimes it's doing something unexpected for the sake of a shock. The most recent example is how The Doctor was able to live past what was supposed to be his final regeneration. It was just a little too convenient that he was granted another set of regenerations by the Timelords to keep him going. We would have all been sad to see him go, but having a poor excuse to keep him around is almost as bad. The way it happened almost felt like lazy writing, but the writers probably explored several options before settling on an easy fix. Still, there had to have been a better option than "Oh look, I have more lives thanks to my old friends on Gallifrey." Peter Capaldi is set to take over the role this fall when Doctor Who returns to television. This slideshow will examine some of the ways they could monumentally screw it up.
