Doctor Who: 9 Things You Didn't Realise About Series 1 Of NuWho

Examining the Ninth Doctor's adventures.

26th March 2015 will mark the 10th anniversary of Doctor Who's revival and, in the build up to the big day, WhoCulture will be getting nostalgic by commemorating the landmark with a series of articles featuring interesting tidbits you may not have previously known about each series of NuWho to date. Starting at the beginning (it's a very good place to start - unless you're River Song, that is!), it's time to take a trip in the TARDIS back to where it all began - for 21st century Doctor Who, at least - with a string of facts relating to Series 1 which starred Christopher Eccleston as the titular Time Lord. Chris' tenure as the ninth incarnation of our beloved hero was short but sweet and he'll always be remembered as the Doctor who reintroduced the series to its 21st century audience and helped to establish its presence as one of the world's most popular shows. A whole new generation of fans stepped aboard the TARDIS with him at its helm and for many he will always be 'their' Doctor, despite the fact he was only in a grand total of 13 episodes and as such is often tragically undervalued in the grand scheme of things. In his own words, though, the Ninth Doctor was "fantastic" and to kick start the celebrations, here are nine things (nine things for the Ninth Doctor seemed pretty appropriate) that you (probably) didn't realise about his first and only series. The chances are that most of these pieces of trivia will already be familiar to you, but hopefully you'll be treated to some form of enlightenment over the following the pages. Don't forget to let us know your own nuggets of knowledge in the comments section. Sharing is caring, after all.
