Doctor Who Series 12 - 8 Major Rumours You Need To Know
6. Reintroduction Of Iconic Monsters
Season 11’s most divisive feature was its shelving of classic monsters in favour of all new enemies for The Doctor to face off against. And while the likes of dogged intergalactic warriors, the Stenza, the super-kitsch Kerblam Man, and the downright petrifying Morax served as welcome additions to the thirteenth Doctor’s rogues gallery, the lack of familiar monsters alienated viewers who tuned into see The Doctor and Team TARDIS confront the likes of Daleks, Cybermen, Autons and Silurians.
Fortunately, anyone feeling bereft by series 11’s lack of iconic alien threats can rejoice at the confirmed presence of both the Cybermen and the Judoon, as well as an as of yet unconfirmed return for the Daleks.
The Cybermen are strongly rumoured to be appearing in a historical episode featuring legendary horror novelist, Mary Shelly; presumably playing a role in her creation of Frankenstein’s monster. Elsewhere, everyone’s favourite interplanetary thugs/galactic G4S will be stomping all over contemporary UK soil, according to an interview with Chris Chibnall.
Series 12’s Dalek contingent remains shrouded in the utmost secrecy, with zero confirmed details on their role and only several leaked set photos as evidence, but given the spine-chilling inclusion of the Scout Dalek in the 2018/19 New Year’s special, as well as confirmed returns for the aforementioned legacy villains, future Dalek incursions are inevitable.
