Game Of Thrones Season 8 Breakdown: What 'The Last Of The Starks' REALLY Means

8. Tormund And Ghost Get A Happy Ending

Remember that line about few people in the Great Game getting happy endings? Well, it seems that two of the most beloved (and rightly so) fan-favourite characters might just have got theirs without any caveats. Though it's always dangerous to make such assumptions in this show.

With the war against the Night King done, Tormund reveals that he's taking what's left of the Free Folk back North to their homes. He says they have no place in the South and it doesn't feel right, which takes away a tough part of Dany's army but at least means that we won't have to suffer the pain of watching Tormund die.

It's a bittersweet ending, because it removes one of the most rewarding characters in this entire show and he's not going alone. After years of mistreatment, Ghost has been retired rather than being killed off as most probably expected. He's off to the great snowy playground of the North and not in the euphemistic sense, remarkably. That should be it for both of them.

Now, if we could just get a Tormund and Ghost spin-off, that would be really great.
