The Walking Dead: 8 Insane Ways The TV Show Should End

2. The Death Of Rick Grimes

I've already alluded to The Walking Dead wrapping up the story of Rick Grimes by killing him off, but how exactly should such a moment be handled? There's certainly something to be said for Rick going down in a blaze of glory protecting his family (it may be a little clichéd, but I can see a mortally wounded Rick blowing himself and an entire warehouse of walkers up to save them), but a much more tragic ending would perhaps suit the series even better. Rick is after all being taken down a rather dark path, and it could be that he'll end up only being able to redeem his past actions through sacrificing his life. Regardless of why it happens though, a perfect way to end The Walking Dead would be to have Rick become one of the walkers he's fought for so long. If the show were to fool viewers into thinking he had died at an earlier point in the series finale, the image of him suddenly standing up, shambling off into the distance, and joining a hoard of walkers would be a tragic and heartbreaking way to wrap up his story. However controversial this one would be, there's no denying that it would also be extremely memorable. Seeing the likes of Shane and even Merle as walkers has made for unpleasant viewing in the past, so a beloved hero like Rick also succumbing to the virus and becoming just another walker would be even tougher, while reminding viewers how fruitless it is to fight a force as powerful as death.
