4. Reshuffling Priorities Is A Good Thing (Just This Once)

As the majority of this episode focused on the arrival of the second Robin, and his connection to Dick, there was very little attention placed on the main narrative involving Rachel Roth's origins. Instead, 'Jason Todd' focused on the titular character's debut and, in doing so, it allowed the writers to tease us with a few more hints of Batman and the seemingly troubled relationship that he and Dick had while fighting crime together.

Sure, it's a shame that regular cast members Anna Diop, Teagan Croft and Ryan Potter were all sidelined, but this episode was all about Dick and his relationship with the Bat-Family. This allowed Brenton Thwaites to deliver that powerful leading performance that he's been teasing since the show began, while also teasing us with more of Dick's origins.

While straying from the main storyline is rarely a good thing (Titans has done it a little too often in a mere six episodes), this change of direction was absolutely necessary, allowing us to get a little more acquainted with the iconic Bat-Family and how Dick's role in it influenced who he has become today. Speaking of which...
