The Walking Dead: 13 Things That Make No Damn Sense

9. The Hyundai From The Future

Walking Dead Hyundai I've recently written an article on shameless product placement in TV shows, and while going over that particular kettle of fish, I looked at the oddly-clean Hyundai Tucson Rick seems to ride everywhere. The fact that it tends to be showroom-fresh was bothersome enough, but the major sticking point came when you realise that the model Rick drives was built this year. I think that's kind of odd, from a continuity perspective. The general wisdom seems to be that the show began in the same time period in which it was first aired €“ 2010. However, what with it taking longer to film a TV series than it does to live regular life, the rate in which time passes in the TWD universe has slowed down. So while we've had three-and-a-half seasons over 3 years, only about a year-and-a-bit has passed in Walking Dead terms. At best, that makes it 2011. If you put this in mind, the fact Rick appears to be driving about in an up-to-date-in-the-real-world Hyundai doesn't seem to fit chronologically. Did Hyundai's plant end up not being attacked by zombies? I guess we'll never know, but after Rick finishes defending the prison, it might be fun to go see where they're making these future-cars.
