3. Jushin Liger - Jushin Liger

In a 25+ year career, Jushin Liger has won eleven IWGP Junior Heavyweight Titles, captured the WCW Light Heavyweight Championship, and wrestled at Brooklyn's Barclays Center as part of NXT. He's one of wrestling's greatest tales of longevity, but his entire gimmick was inspired by an anime series that lasted less than a year.

In March of 1989, the Jushin Liger anime, created by Go Nagai, debuted on Japanese television. Keiichi Yamada was competing in Canada under his real name, but New Japan called him back home to play a role based on the title character, which the company had previously done with the manga and anime Tiger Mask. Though Jushin Liger ended in 1990, the wrestler's Hall of Fame career continues to this day. The connection between the two hasn't been forgotten - Liger still uses "Ikari no Jushin," the anime's opening theme, as his wrestling entrance music.
