3. Shawn Michaels Vs The Undertaker At Wrestlemania 26
https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VgauGnovoSE At the beginning, we talked about how most big wrestling storylines basically boil down to good guy vs bad guy. But as the CM Punk example showed, it can be about one guy's story. And this is the story of Shawn Michaels and his obsession with one more match with The Undertaker, set perfectly to Placebo's cover of "Running Up That Hill". There has never been a more perfect song choice to accompany a storyline in history. What's great about this is the way it really distances itself from The Undertaker in order to make the story entirely about Michaels. 'Taker rarely speaks, and throughout most of it we don't catch a proper look at his eyes, giving him the feel of an entity rather than a man. We see Michaels slowly spiral out of control, and when it looks like his dream is out of reach, we see the Wrestlemania sign blur out and footage from his match at Wrestlemania 25 in reverse. His obsession is swiftly moving towards becoming unattainable, and his desperation increasing. Every time we see footage of his previous effort, it's tinged with faded glory. And when Michaels eventually got his match within his grasp, he had to offer his career as a sacrifice. He was still running up that hill. It was a fantastically told story, and a fitting conclusion to Shawn's in-ring career.
