10 Biggest Controversies Of Kurt Angle's Legacy

As a Pittsburgh native, Kurt Angle is a living legend to me. Ever since the 1996 Olympics, Angle has become a mythical figure in the city and his professional wrestling career only made him a bigger star in my eyes. Angle became not only the best amateur wrestler on the planet but quite possibly the best professional wrestler as well. Not only that but he did it in an insanely short period of time, seemingly going from developmental to the main event in record time. Kurt's time as a professional wrestler has come with its fair share of highs but also a number of lows involving substance issues, personal problems, and controversial actions have confused fans, promoters, and other wrestlers. Even with all the outside troubles, Angle remains one of the best pure talents in the wrestling world even at age 45. A WWE return and a final Wrestlemania performance seems to be Angle's main goal but will he be able to shed his personal issues and put aside distractions to return to the big leagues? Only time will tell.

10. Alcohol-Related Arrests

Kurt Angle Arrest Angle is well known for being a fitness fanatic. While training for the Olympics, his workout schedule simply would not allow him to drink alcohol. His training was world class and his diet had no room for the substance that most American men consume on a fairly consistent basis. However, more recently, Angle has found himself on the wrong end of the law thanks to his use of alcohol. In 2013, Angle was arrested for his fourth alcohol-related crime in six years. Angle had gotten drunk after a TNA television taping in Texas and got behind the wheel his car, a major no-no with nothing funny about it. Angle should be ashamed of his DUIs and the danger he is putting people in when he drives impaired and he did announce he was entering a rehab clinic in August 2013. Angle's previous arrests involved two other DUIs and an incident when he was drunk behind the wheel of a parked car. No matter what the reason was for Angle's impaired driving, putting other drivers in danger because of your own recklessness is simply inexcusable.
