7. Kane Has An English Literature Degree

When you think about well-educated wrestlers, Kane probably isn’t the first name that springs to mind. You might think of Damien Sandow and his Intellectual Saviour of the Masses gimmick, the Harvard-educated David Otunga, or “The Genius” Lanny Poffo, but the hulking pyromaniac decked-out in a black and red attire bodysuit and a goofy rubber mask? Nah…

Surprisingly, however, Kane is actually one of the most well-educated wrestlers in the business. He graduated from Northeast Missouri State University (now Truman State University) with a degree in English Literature in 1990, and used it to secure a job as a substitute prior to entering the wrestling business.

His career obviously took a sharp left turn when he ditched classrooms for wrestling rings, but Kane’s educational background still influences him as a performer today. Kane credits the creativity he learned through studying literature as a huge help throughout his wrestling career, and it shows in his work. Pro wrestling almost certainly isn’t the path he thought he’d be following when he started his college career, but it has worked out pretty well for him...
