7. Kane Has An English Literature Degree
When you think about well-educated wrestlers, Kane probably isn’t the first name that springs to mind. You might think of Damien Sandow and his Intellectual Saviour of the Masses gimmick, the Harvard-educated David Otunga, or “The Genius” Lanny Poffo, but the hulking pyromaniac decked-out in a black and red attire bodysuit and a goofy rubber mask? Surprisingly, however, Kane is actually one of the most well-educated wrestlers in the business. He graduated from Northeast Missouri State University (now Truman State University) with a degree in English Literature in 1990, and used it to secure a job as a substitute prior to entering the wrestling business.
His career obviously took a sharp left turn when he ditched classrooms for wrestling rings, but Kane’s educational background still influences him as a performer today. Kane credits the creativity he learned through studying literature as a huge help throughout his wrestling career, and it shows in his work.
