10 Greatest WWE Referees Ever

6. Nick Patrick

Born Joseph Nicholas Patrick Hamilton, "Nick Patrick" is a second-generation performer, his father- Jody Hamilton having been best known as one-half of The Assasins in the 60s. An early injury ended Nick's own wrestling career before it ever started, but his love for wrestling kept him in the business, and Nick transferred to refereeing, changing his moniker to make a name for himself, without his father's help. Nick officiating matches in the Jim Crockett Promotions, and stayed with the company when it became World Championship Wrestling (WCW.) In 1996, he became the official referee for the New World Order (nWo) helping the heels win via fast-counts and blind-eyes to interference and cheating. His run with the nWo came to an end when he attempted to get Kevin Nash to let-up on a beat-down of Rick Steiner at Spring Stampede 1997. He was brought back as a WCW official initially on a probationary basis, but remained a neutral WCW referee until Vince McMahon purchased WCW in 2001. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hy6FDmMXZtE As the head-referee for the WCW/ECW Alliance during The Invasion, Nick returned to his bias ways, making sure the Alliance got their victories over the WWF wrestlers, and even fighting head WWF referee Earl Hebner at the Invasion PPV. After the Alliance ended, Nick was once again a neutral referee, and remained so through his run as the head Smackdown referee until 2007, when he moved to WWE's developmental territory, Florida Championship Wrestling. He was released in August of 2008, and €“ after some runs as referee and commissioner for some independent promotions €“ has left the business altogether.
